WoT Assembly Line: May-June 2015 Edition

Spring has come and soon will be gone as Summer brings the heat and longer days of sun!

WoT has seen flurries of activity split by droughts of game play.  Clan Wars has been a flurry of activity with the annual ‘Total War’ player made event that happens at the end of the collegiate school year.  Battles have been fast and furious and has brought back energy to CWs and killed most of the gold farming boringness.  It’s given some new life to the game.  At the time of this post, the event has ended and its back to the same old same old till the next campaign begins.

Progress down a few lines has resulted in a few new Tier X's being researched.  Well let’s say a few gold coins were spent to finish a few of them but it wasn’t a lot.  Several new lines were started to flesh out some of the specialty lines for CW tanks.  These lines benefit mostly from the crews that came with the Berlin Quartet package that became available for a few weeks during the spring.  Most of those tanks are pretty good but the crews are the real value imho as they came in at 100% with Brothers in Arms already trained.

Lots of good things have made it into the game!  Campaign missions for the premium tanks and female crew have now been more friendly.  Platoon missions are now able to be completed solo.  With that change, I will start doing them again and try to get female crew members for some of the new and completed lines that need good crews ;)

WG also added Personal Reserve missions.  Basically these are similar to what you see in Strongholds in terms of providing buffs for the player.  In essence, you complete a mission and receive a reward that you can activate to give you a bonus.  At the moment the missions are centered around winning x missions to get a reward that for now you can activate to receive bonus experience.  There are limits to how many times you can receive the reward and have various bonuses and duration.

I’m still playing half in the bag on the weekends which isn’t helping my stats but who cares!  But seriously, CW's performance is good as is weekday play so I am not too concerned.  What I need is for Armored Warfare to go public so I can play that drunk and leave tanks alone ;)

Without further ado, let’s get to the tanks!

Tank Progression

A-43 - VI (66.7%WR, 1,649 WN8, 2nd Class,  52k Left) - Casual: Obj 430
Mobile medium with semi decent armor and accurate fast firing pew pew gun.  Not much to say about this little guy other than it plays very similarly to the Type 58.  Top gear researched.

With the T-62A and Obj 140 in the garage, the Obj 430 is just for pub fun.  The tier VIII may be worth keeping for situal use in campaigns.

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, Binocs

Projected Completion: July.

AMX13 90 - CWs: AMX 30
Have only been playing the squirt in Strongholds.  Super casual grind as I have plenty of mediums to use in its place, notably the Leo 1.

Projected Completion: Whenever.

Challenger - VII (55.2%WR, 1,352 WN8, 2nd Class, 28k Left) - Casual: FV4005
Semi fast, weak armored, slow turret traverse TD in the newest British line.  This TD is perhaps one of the worst TDs I have played.  With the change in the meta to have more engagements in shorter distances, the low alpha pew pew gun combined with poor armor really make this tank difficult to play.  It feels like the cammo is also lacking.  In all honesty I am just going to play this till I get to the tier VIII Charioteer which I hear is a beast.  Not sure if I will continue all the way to the X, FV4005, when the FV215b(183) is better armored and both have derp Hesh rounds.

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, Binocs

Projected Completion: July.

Conqueror - IX (54.4%WR, 1,288 WN8, 1st Class, Completed) CWs: FV215b
Over the Memorial Day weekend, Monday was a double exp weekend and I spent a long time serially grinding this baby.  While I did better since last report, it was marginal.  This may be the first X I will sink silver into once it becomes available.

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, VStab

Repurchase Chance: Nil.

FV3805 –IX (49.5%WR, 1,314 WN8, 1st Class, Completed) - CWs: Conq GC
Spent the gold to end the pain.  Go die in a hot vat of acid.

Equipment: Rammer, GLD, Vents.

Repurchase Chance: Don't make me kill you.

SU-100M1 –VII (44.7%WR,  1,664 WN8, Ace, 28k Left) - CWs: Obj 263
Stats thrashed due to drunken grind and gameplay.  It's really not a bad tank at all.  The only knocks about it are the rear mounted gun which hurts its gun depression and its armor.  The gun is pretty good!  High rate of fire, adequate damage and fairly accurate.  The platform is mobile and has a decent traverse.  While the armor is mediocre, it can be semi troll at times.  It is a fun tank, I just need to stop playing it drunk ;)

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, Binocs.

Projected Completion: July.

T-54 - CWs: T-62A
Nothing much to say here other than I dropped some gold this past weekend to convert exp to research the T-62A.  Did not feel like grinding it out and wanted to save silver on purchasing the T-62A.  I will be leaving the current crew in the T-54 there and will work on the Stug campaign to get an all female crew for the T-62A.

Repurchase Chance: Won't ever sell it ;)

T-150 – VI (66.7%WR, 819 WN8, 2nd Class, Completed) - CWs: IS-4
Fairly decently armored heavy in the Russian line.  It's top gun is not as powerful as its KV-85 its nothing to sneeze at.  While I have not performed well with the smaller guns, I am curious to see how it plays with the top gun.  Looking forward to the bigger engine to relieve the sluggishness.

Equipment: Rammer, GLD, Vents.

Projected Completion: July.

Tiger (P) – VII (50.7%WR,  1.750 WN8, Ace, Completed) - Casual: Maus
Finally got my head out of my ass and got this baby working for me with a ~57% win rate and over 2k WN8 for the final stretch.  I took more snap shots and worried less about fully aiming.  Turret armor is way to dodgy to sit there exposed.  Had the best game in this baby ;)

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, GLD

Repurchase Chance: Slim.

Tortoise – IX (53.9%WR,  1404 WN8, 1st Class, Completed) - Casual: FV215b(183)
Did a bunch of grinding on Memorial Day when the Conq was locked as well as the past weekend. Played a dash better since last update but still not great.  Decided to convert some experience with 20k left to end it.  While the gun on it was awesome, the rest of the tank just made it miserable.  Short on silver, the X will be near the last to be purchased as it is rarely used in CWs.

Equipment: Rammer, Vents, Binos

Repurchase Chance: Nil.

NOTE:  All stats taken from VBAddict.Net.

Future Plans

  • Continue doing dailies.  With four lines finished, this will take much less time.  I will be able to grind out one line better and mix in money tanks easier.
  • With the changes to campains, get back to working on missions and get my Stug.  Right now, I have two of the lines completed and are close to finishing the rest.
  • Work in a few premium tank grinds for cash.  With three Brittish Xs researched and no cash available, I have a lot of work to do.  I could always drop $100 and get the 10k gold and 10 million silver package and take care of it that way...
  • Start looking at the few other lines I have left to grind.
    • CW ready
      • IS-4: T-150 – Situational use.  Sometimes substituted for IS-7s.  Grind through KV-3 and KV-4 look somewhat painful.  ST-I is pretty awesome and a garage keeper like the E-75.
      • Obj 263: SU-100 -  Situational use.  Armor is somewhat decent but speed and DPM are deadly on some maps.  Sees less use than either of the other options.
    • “Fun”
      • Obj 430: A-43 – With so many other tankers having the 140 or 62A, this tank would see little use.  Not to mention by the time I have this tank, I will have both the 140 and 62A.
      • JPZ E100: JT – Meh, meh, meh.  Will never get used in CWs with so many other options available.  Slow, lumbering and will be penned at will with all the gold being slung in CWs.  It just can’t get anywhere to be effective.  Almost anything it can do the 215b (183) can do better.
    • Not going to happen
      • Any arty left…  Ugh… I think GWE is all I have left…
Well that's about it for May-June!  I'll leave you with a drunken Ace badge replay ;)
