WoT: Stats Paralysis

As you may or may not know, folks have managed to be able to obtain player stats from World Of Tanks.  As you can imagine, there are a myriad of sites that allow you to evaluate and pick apart the performance over time, on a per tank basis and other criteria.  Additionally there are mods in game such as the popular XVM that allow you to see performance criteria for players on both teams.

Cue the Doors, 'This is the End', the end of Archeage... For me at least ;)

Well I knew it was going to end sooner or later.  The fail of having a semi smooth launch just made it come a bit sooner.  Quite simply it outlasted my drive to play something 'new and shiny'.

ArcheAge, Two Weeks In

Tomorrow will be two weeks after the launch of ArcheAge.  Instead of rehashing what has gone wrong since then, let’s take a look at what has gone right and what has gotten fixed.

Archeage - Login Queues Broken or Denial of Paid Service: Question Reference # 140919-001112

Just documenting the absolute failure the Archeage launch has been.  Following is a support ticket I submitted detailing the huge issue getting into the game is as a paying customer.  As of the time of this post, I am 713 in the queue as of 8:41 EST from the log on at 4:11 EST at position 2434.  Yes, it's very possible I will go to bed before getting into the game...

Archeage, the Queue Simulator.

Yep, if you are into long wait times to get in, this is the game for you!  Every single server is in Queue status at 4pm EST with often over 1000 players deep.  On average the wait time is approximately 45 minutes per 500 in the queue.  Of course the deeper you get into the middle of prime time, 4-12pm EST, the numbers reach and exceed the 2k level.  Yep, that’s about a 3 hour wait…

But hey, you decided to pay for Patron to play a queue simulator right?!?!?!?  Gotta hand it to Trion, they have the gameplay down pat.  Having only released two new servers when Archeage opened to the general public, don’t look for a nerf anytime soon as they seem intent on keeping the servers to a bare minimum.  The only thing that will harm their simulator is when players get burnt out and don’t feel like paying to play and believe me, it’s coming.

Archeage: Head Start, An Epic Failure

What do you do when one of your closest MMO compatriots is excited to the point of sleep deprivation decides to go all in on a ‘newly’ released MMO?  You sign up for a founders pack to get in on the Head Start!  Hopefully Alysianah is prepared for the onslaught of questions ;)

Well I broke down on this past Saturday and ordered the Silver Founders Pack.  I did it for two main reasons.  The first being the draw to a new game.  As a “MMO Nomad” (TM Alysianah Enterprises) the draw to a new game can be hard to overcome unless it looks like a dud.  More on that later.

The second reason, traditional MMO launch woes.  I decided to try to help a sick Aly out in trying to get into the game as the servers have been going up and since launch.  Apparently there was a DDOS attack on Trion’s servers as a whole as attempts to get into RIFT as well was a failure.  So I stood watch over a stream and a few other resources while.  Most of Saturday was hampered with occasional windows of opportunity to get in.  I can definitely forgive Trion a break on this as it is completely out of their control.
